Connecting systems for efficiency
TMB Publishing publishes three magazines to the Plumbing and Heating Industry eight times a year. This used to be a laborious process that required 55 individual steps for input, reviews and approvals. A separate time-consuming process was followed to manually update the content on corresponding web sites.
Technotribe (now a part of Exclaim) partnered with TMB to understand and streamline the workflow process. Based on our analysis, we recommended and implemented two new CMS systems.
Woodwing Content Station allows content creators to create new articles online, allowing the publisher a real-time view of progress. Furthermore, magazine layout (linked to Adobe InDesign) can occur in tandem with content creation, greatly improving publishing efficiency.
Drupal is used to manage all web site content. Because Drupal and Woodwing are connected, when an article is approved for print, it automatically is scheduled for release on the web site.
Because of this enhancement to the publishing process, dynamic navigational elements were added to the TMB web sites to allow the user to drill down into content in multiple ways: by author, publication, category or content type.
